THE Hospice at Home team has been described as Hereford's "little bit of gold dust", and Jade Dyke-Whitfield is at its heart.

The team is based at St Michael's Hospice and is a partnership between the hospice, Marie Curie and Herefordshire Clinical Commissioning Group. It provides a service that is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in people's own home.

Jade's work has been nominated for recognition in the palliative/end-of-life category of the Hereford Times Health and Social Care Awards 2019.

Jodie Paskell, who nominated Jade, says: "Jade has worked tremendously hard since 2016 juggling a busy home life, studying to gain her masters degree in palliative care, and steaming ahead to enable to Hospice at Home team to provide hands-on nursing care to the residents of Herefordshire.

"Jade has expanded the services the team offers over the last 12 months, providing more help and support to families, and giving the staff more time with patients.

"The Hospice at Home team really is Hereford's little bit of gold dust, and Jade has played a huge part in offering such a service."

The Hereford Times Health and Social Care Awards, which launched last month and are now in their second year, will again recognise outstanding work by individuals and teams in the health and social care sector across Herefordshire.

The 12 categories are: Care Team, Care Hero, Care Home Worker, Domiciliary Worker, Good Nurse, Outstanding Contribution to Social Care, Care Trainer, Dignity in Care, Dementia Carer, Palliative/End of Life, Mental Health Care and Care Employer.

Our headline sponsor is the University of Worcester, the region’s leading healthcare training provider.

A series of supplements in the Hereford Times and special coverage on our website and social media will promote the awards and publicise those shortlisted.

The climax will be an awards ceremony in September when the winners and runners-up are revealed, followed by a special supplement in the Hereford Times highlighting all the successful entrants. Find out how to submit a nomination:
