The art group meets in Bredwardine village hall between 1pm and 4pm each Friday.  In April the dates are 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th. The sessions are ‘drop in’ and cost £5 each week, which includes the cost of tea and biscuits.  Our members work at their own pace and with the media they prefer, so any week we might have oils, watercolours, pastels and acrylics all being used and this is a great way to be inspired by something new or just take a look.

In March, 13 members of the group travelled to Chapel Cottage Studio in Abergavenny for a very enjoyable acrylic workshop with professional artist Jantien Powell.  We painted a bluebell wood; which is very appropriate for the season and some of our efforts are on display in the village hall.  In April one of our members, Kari Lawson, is presenting an oil portrait ‘Giant Killers’ to Hereford FC for display in the club. The picture is of two of the players involved in their epic victory against Newcastle United on February 5th 1972 at the Edgar Street Ground.  It is an artist interpretation of a photograph taken by Derek Evans, which is now part of the Derek Evans Heritage Trust.

We also hope to get outside for some plein-air work in April. The fields will be full of lambs and the river is always a glorious setting for sketching and painting.
