On Saturday, March 23, from 11am-2pm Aardvark Books will again be hosting the extraordinary acoustic guitarist Gareth Rees-Roberts. For many years Gareth made regular appearances at Aardvark, but over the last few years other projects have kept him away.

As Aardvark Books owner Sheridan Swinson says: "I was so delighted when Gareth called me and suggested that he would like to come back to Aardvark to play. Over the years he has introduced us to a world of Spanish and Latin American music and I am excited to hear what he will be playing this time."

For the Aardvark Spring concert Gareth will be concentrating on the works of Yupanqi - an Argentine composer to whom he was first introduced by the poet Roger Garfitt. Yupanqi, who also wrote poetry, has been a major influence on Argentine music and Gareth will also be exploring the works of his fellow Argentine composers Buchardo, Cerro, Diaz, Heinze, Morel, Pujol, Ramirez, and Villoldo.

Gareth has lived and worked in the Marches for many years. He started his musical journey studying classical guitar at the Royal Academy of Music, where he was awarded the Julian Bream Prize. He has toured extensively in the U.K. and Europe giving concerts and lecture recitals both as a soloist and in chamber ensembles. Gareth was a co-founder of the Presteigne Music Festival with his wife Lynden and the composer Adrian Williams, and was also a co-founder of Mid-Border Arts.
