THE City of Hereford Probus Club, founded in 1969, is one of the oldest surviving in the country, Probus UK having been established in 1965.

The Probus Club will commemorate and celebrate its 50th anniversary on November 6, 2019 at The Green Dragon.

The City of Hereford Probus Club was formed by Hereford Rotarians, and Rotarian Stephen Fisher was the first president.

On February 21 the club commenced its 50th anniversary year by visiting Hereford City’s Heritage Suite and Silver Room at the Town Hall, meeting Right Worshipful the Mayor of Hereford Councillor Sue Boulter, and the Mayor’s Officer John Marshall.

Before the end of her term of office in May 2019 Councillor Sue Boulter will visit the Probus Club at The Herdsman to speak with members about her year’s work and responsibilities as Mayor of Hereford.

It was appropriate that the start of the year of celebration was the organised visit to Hereford City’s Town Hall as the Probus Club has the distinct privilege of officially having the Coat of Arms of the City of Hereford illustrated on its jewel appended to the Chain of Office.
