AS part of the commemorations of the end of the First World War, a climbing rose, of the Crown Princess Margareta variety, was recently planted by members of the Inner Wheel Club of Hereford Wye Valley in the Blackfriars Rose Gardens.
They were warmly welcomed by the Friends of Gardens, who supplied tea, coffee or hot chocolate as the rain came down.
President Liz Hodgkinson said “I think this is a wonderful expression of our appreciation to those hundreds of thousands of soldiers who fought for our freedom back in 1914 to 1918, many of whom never came home.”
