ON Valentine's Day, Herefordshire for the EU and Worcestershire for the EU were well represented in the demonstration outside Parliament.

They hosted a stall proclaiming the virtue of 'cake not hate', freely giving cake to the many passers by, fellow demonstrators - and quite a few Parliamentarians.

The focal attraction was a magnificent model - in delicious cake (made in Herefordshire) - of the iconic top hat worn by Steve Bray, who has stood outside Parliament every day it sits since September 2017.

The number of supporters of SODEM (Stand Of Defiance European Movement), which started as a one-man protest, has swelled and swelled, and now there are often scores - even hundreds now and again - of cheerful flag-waving people joining Steve.

MPs Ben Badshaw (Lab) and Sarah Wollaston (Con) cut the splendidly crafted cake and those lucky enough to sample it found it was pretty good to eat!
