The Courtyard’s Education team have launched a brand new project #TalkAwayDontWalkAway to help open up the discussion around mental health with Herefordshire’s youth and support them with ways in which they can help themselves and one another.

At a time when as many as one in six young people are expected to experience an anxiety condition at some point in their lives, it is now more vital than ever to ensure that they are equipped with strategies to talk about and cope with the mental health issues that they may one day face.

With the support of Herefordshire Community Foundation and Herefordshire Mind, The Courtyard’s Education team are offering comprehensive workshops to secondary schools and youth groups and are currently taking bookings for the two hour workshops. The Courtyard will also provide a Mental Health Awareness Booklet and badge to each individual at the end of the session with useful information and contact details for support organisations.

“Our project #TalkAwayDontWalkAway is so important to educate and support young people in regards to their mental health.” said The Courtyard’s Education Officer and Youth Theatre Leader Rebecca Cook. “We aim for these workshops to encourage young people to talk about the challenges they may be facing, whether it is with their peers, teachers, family or professional. In response to the workshops, we are asking groups to create pieces of art, written work and short performances to share during Mental Health Week 2019 at The Courtyard.”
