Drones, virtual reality, smartphone film-making and cyber security were just a few of the subjects at an event to help local businesses boost their knowledge of digital technologies.

Around 45 sole traders and small business owners attended the Love Digital event at The Three Counties Hotel in Hereford to learn how to maximise the use of all things digital within their companies.

Those attending received support and advice from a range of experts.

Guest speaker Lucas Karemo, from Google’s Digital Garage, shared his knowledge on digital marketing with businesses while local firms Shooting Reels and Sly Spirit hosted workshops demonstrating the use of smartphone film-making and Virtual and Augmented Reality.

More expert advice was given on a range of subjects including drone technology, GDPR, cyber security, e-commerce technology, digital programmes and software, SEO and digital marketing. There was also an opportunity for networking.

The event was hosted by the Marches Growth Hub Herefordshire, the one stop-shop for business support, in partnership with Connect 2 Grow, a scheme funded by the European Regional Development Fund and delivered by the University of Wolverhampton via the Business Solutions Centre in Hereford.

Lyndsay Francis, Economic Development Officer for the Growth Hub, said: “This event has proven to be a real hit for businesses.

“There are so many different technologies and strategies which can be leveraged in one way or another to help streamline productivity, boost efficiency and expand markets but it’s sometimes difficult to know where to start.

“This event was a great opportunity for business owners to discover more about what they could utilise in their organisation in manageable, miniature bite sized chunks.”
