FIREFIGHTERS were called to rescue an elderly driver after their car overturned yesterday.

Crews from Kingsland and Leintwardine Fire Stations were called to reports of a car on its roof at the junction of the A4110 and the B4530 north of Adforton at 4pm yesterday.

Police were in attendance to control traffic whilst firefighters cut off both of the car's doors to release one elderly casualty and stabilised the vehicle.

The rescued driver was left in the care of paramedics and police.

An ambulance service spokeswoman said: "We were called shortly to reports of a car which had overturned following a collision with a hedge at the junction of the B4530 and A4110 near Adforton shortly before 4pm. 

"One ambulance and a paramedic officer attended.

"One man was treated on scene before being taken to Hereford County Hospital."
