A major redevelopment project in Hereford has been shortlisted in the UK Housing Awards this year.
The regeneration of The Oval was the most ambitious scheme ever carried out by Herefordshire Housing, and it is shortlisted for the Neighbourhood Transformation Award.
The Oval was a major multi-million-pound programme of improvement and regeneration work across an area that included Kilvert Road, Broxash Drive, Belmont Road and Beattie Avenue in Hereford.
It involved demolition, new build and refurbishment and "transformed the area by creating a sustainable community which improves choices and life changes for its residents.
A project which helps older people live independent lives across Herefordshire and Shropshire is also shortlisted, this time in the Best Older Peoples Landlord category.
The Independent Living scheme helps people enjoy their home environment for as long as possible.
It promotes individual choice and control over decisions while offering reassurance about safety and security.
The project is run by Connexus, a group which includes Herefordshire Housing and South Shropshire Housing Association.
It works closely with Herefordshire Council to identify housing demand and support needs.
