THE story of a county air disaster is set to be explored at a 'Talk and Walk' event.

Expert speaker and supporter of our Alan Blumlein Memorial Appeal, Dave Scaysbrook, will talk on the events of June 7 1942, when a Halifax Research Aircraft carrying some of the country's most prestigious scientists from RAF Defford crashed near Coppett Hill, Goodrich.

All eleven passengers aboard, including Alan Blumlein, whose contributions to radar technology were key in securing an Allied victory over Nazi Germany, were killed in the disaster

Mr Scaysbrook, a professional consultant forensic scientist, will also show how scientific developments, both before and after, still touch people's lives today.

The talk will be attended by special guests including Alan Blumlein's son, Simon Blumlein, who was six at the time of his father's death

There will also be a guided walk from Lydbrook to the crash site for willing participants following the talk.

Tickets for the event, which will take place at Goodrich Village Hall at 10.30am on March 31 are priced at £6.50. To book, call 01600 891421 or visit https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/whats-on/herefordshire/goodrich-village-hall/halifax-aircraft-crash-talk-and-walk/2019-03-31/11:00
