KINGTON Family Support Group has received a financial boost to continue its vital work.

The group has been awarded £7,581 through the Herefordshire Community Foundation, a grant awarding charity which helps local voluntary and community groups by working with local businesses, funders and governments to create grant-making programmes tailored to the needs of the community.

The awarded money comes from the Tampon Tax Fund, generated from VAT on sanitary products to be distributed to projects dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged women and girls.

The Kington group, part of Home-Start Herefordshire, works on a referral basis to support women and children identified as needing help to improve their health and wellbeing in North Herefordshire.

Scheme Manager Mandie Preece said: "The Kington group has been running for the past 15 years, providing a valuable lifeline.

"With support like this, the group will continue to transform the lives of some of the most socially excluded women and children living in this isolated area of the county."
