HEREFORDSHIRE has woken up to a heavy frost this morning after temperatures dropped well below zero overnight.
Ducks were left high and dry at the Castle Pool in Hereford, which completely froze over as the temperature plummeted, and commuters faced icy roads and freezing fog.
And the cold conditions are forecast to continue through the weekend, with snow expected to start falling across the county from 4pm today.
The BBC predicts that "persistent and locally heavy" snow is likely to fall for much of the night, continuing into rush hour on Friday morning and with temperatures expected to fall below zero again, road conditions are likely to be treacherous.
A yellow warning of fog, snow and ice remains in place for the county, and BBC forecasters have warned that parts of South Wales and South-West Herefordshire could be hardest hit, with up to 15 centimetres of snow expected to fall on higher ground.
