DEVELOPERS want permission to convert a city centre shop in Hereford into a restaurant or cafe.

Applicant Ro Nayar wants permission for a restaurant to open at 17 St Peters Street, which is currently home to clothing and jewellery shop Ganesha.

The proposals seek to change the use of the ground floor from A1 for retail to A3 with the first and second floors being converted into two two-bed apartments.

Architects working on the plans say the conversion of redundant and underused floor space meets Herefordshire Council’s core strategy for the city centre.

“The proposed layout of the ground, first and second floors utilises the existing footprint of the current accommodation and does not require significant alteration.

“The design and construction of the proposed works will compliment the existing building and will have minimal effect on the heritage asset/conservation area and its external appearance.”

Residents have until February 21 to comment on the proposals which planners are expected to consider by March 4.
