A WOMAN was rescued from the Black Mountains yesterday when she slipped and broke her ankle.
The 38-year-old walker was part of a group making their way over a ridge near Grwyne Fawr Reservoir when she fell during the afternoon.
Longtown Mountain Rescue, assisted by the Central Beacons Mountain Rescue team, launched the rescue after being called by Gwent Police.
The injured woman was treated at the scene by a team medic before being stretchered off the hill and taken to Nevill Hall Hospital by a mountain rescue team vehicle for further treatment.
Longtown MRT Team Leader Luke Lewis said: "The walking group was very well equipped and did exactly the right thing by putting her into a survival shelter while they waited for us to arrive.
"It was a painful injury. We wish her the best for a speedy recovery and hope she is back in the mountains again soon."
