THE curtain will rise on a unique pantomime with a twist at Saxon Hall Community Centre in Hereford.

Writer and Director Kate Ross has been working with a group of volunteers to create the show in aid of Strong Young Minds and Hereford SHYPP, two charities that work with vulnerable young people in Hereford

"Our Cinderella is the conventional fairy story, but with some modern and important twists," Ms Ross said.

"It references social media, body-image and labelling and acceptance."

"Overall though, it's a funny, Hereford-centric, compassionate story that will give local some light-relief and belly-laughs, and two great charities some very needed extra funding."

The group have been hard at work raising funds to cover the running costs of the production, with support and sponsorship from the Hereford Veterans Support Group, Co-Op stores, Healthy Lifestyles Hereford, Body Language School of Dance and Area Entertainment sound and lighting.

Featuring the Mayor of Hereford, Councillor Sue Boulter as the Mayory Godmother and Hereford Co-Op Pioneer Jackie Savage as Buttons, the show promises to be a real community pantomime, with a few surprises promised.

Tickets for the February 2 and 3 performances are available from Saxon Hall.
