DESPITE the dank weather, nearly 50 tractors turned out for the third running of renowned local agricultural engineer, Andrew Thomas’ post-Christmas tractor run.

Starting from his garage on the outskirts of Cross Gates it was a chance for the drivers to give their pride and joy a post-Christmas airing.

The run took a trip around Carmel lane, turning out at Dolau Chapel before heading for the hills by going off road to Gwestedyn Peak.

Here the tractors parked up to overlook Rhayader, however, the view soon disappeared as the clouds blew in, reducing vision to 100 yards.

Once the tractor convoy had left the hill, they were soon back into better weather to head down Penybank’s lane and into Rhayader for a sausage-and-chips lunch at the Eagles Inn.

Once refreshed, the cavalcade went to take in the view of the Caban dam before working their way down through the Elan Village winding their way along the hedge lined lanes to Llanwrthwl.

Then it was a short stretch of the A470 before turning across the Ysfa back to base at Andrew’s garage.

Once all the funds have been collected in the proceeds will be given to a charity of Andrew’s choice.
