A POPULAR quiz held in a mid Wales pub has raised £200 for charity.

The 'Drewie's Christmas Quiz' was held in the Royal Oak in Presteigne and was organised by local quizmaster Andrew Williams to raise funds for the St Michaels Hospice.

Fourteen tables of four people competed in the event which was supported by family and friends donating goods for a raffle to top the money up.

The brain teasers included a sports round, general knowledge and picture round with competitors answering ten rounds of ten questions.

This is the 46th quiz Andrew has organised over the past six years.

Andrew said '"It's great to see the hard work spent putting a quiz together is enjoyed by so many people in the community and the fact we are raising money for St Michaels Hospice is the icing on the cake!

I chose St Michael's Hospice because of the care they provided for my mum (Ann Upshaw) over the last couple of years was invaluable be it for respite or the support she received before she sadly passed away in August.

The quiz has supported many local groups and charities in the area over the years.

I'd like to thank Royal Oak landlord Dale Gorman for letting me hold the quiz and friends and family for donating prizes for the raffle!''
