FLOOD alerts are starting to be issued for the county following heavy rainfall.

There are currently five alerts covering the River Arrow, the River Frome, the River Lugg south of Leominster, the River Wye, and the River Leadon.

River levels are expected to continue rising throughout the afternoon and the public are advised to avoid low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.

Flooding of low lying land and roads along the River Wye from Hay-on-Wye to Ross-on-Wye is possible.

Locations that may be affected include the main A438 between Letton and Willersey, Byford, Bredwardine and Hereford. Road closures or diversions on the main A438 may be in force.

The footpath at King George playing fields may flood.

River levels are forecast to rise at the Titley Mill river gauge - flooding is affecting low lying land and roads along the River Arrow from Michaelchurch to Brierley. Other areas that may be affected include Kington, Staunton and Eardisland.

River levels are forecast to rise at the Bishops Frome and Yarkhill river and is affecting low lying land and roads along the River Frome from Bromyard to Hereford. Other locations that may be affected include Bishops Frome and Yarkhill.

Flooding is also affecting low lying land and roads to the River Lugg south of Leominster from Stoke Prior to Mordiford. Other locations that may be affected include Bodenham, Lugwardine and Hampton Bishop.

The River Leadon’s flooding may affect Ledbury, Much Marcle, Staunton and Tibberton.
