AFTER more than 100 years trading in the city, the Hereford High Town based drapers Wakefield Knight will shut up shop permanently in October, the Hereford Times wrote in July 1985.
Two full time staff and 11 part time staff will be made redundant.
Grandson of Mr William Wakefield Knight, founder of the firm, Mr Donald Knight confirmed the closure of the shop form his home in Cardiff. He said the reason for the closure was due to the fact that there were no younger members of the family to take the shop on.
