Having only started running in the last year, Anna Simpkin has decided to challenge herself even further and has secured a place in next year's London Marathon. "Turning 30 next year has inspired me to do something big and tick off an ultimate bucket-list item."

She will be running in aid of the animal welfare charity, Blue Cross, a cause that's close to her heart. "I have a cocker spaniel called Indie who comes to the weekly Hereford Parkrun with me," says Anna. "Having her in my life has helped me through tough times, and she's the reason I chose to run for Blue Cross. All animals deserve a loving home and access to medical care. And I know the funds I raise will make a big difference."

Anna's fundraising target is £1,900 and to help her reach it, she's organised two pre-Christmas events, the first, tomorrow, Friday, December 14, is A Merry Little Christmas Musical Evening with Grace Notes Ladies Choir and The Kindle Singers at The Kindle Centre next to ASDA. The concert starts at 7.30pm, and tickets, available on the door or from anna.marathon2019gmail.com or call 01432 820648.

The second event is a Charity Quiz Night at The Railway Club in Barton Yard on Thursday, December 20. To enter contact Anna by email (see above).

"So far, I have raised £1,073 through bake sales, a work raffle draw, Instagram competition and the Easyfundraising website. My target is £1,900 but I do not want to stop at that, I want to raise as much as I possibly can for Blue Cross to help them continue their fantastic work."

Anna has also created a 5k virtual run to boost the fundraising and get others involved. Visit onceuponarun.co.uk to sign up.
