DORSTONE'S Front Room (DFR) was happy to celebrate its 10th anniversary on December 6 with an evening reception for volunteers past and present.

Set up by the community, for the community, DFR welcomes on average 40 visitors a week to enjoy tea, coffee, cakes, teacakes and very popular bacon butties on a Friday. Many of the volunteers have been with the organisation for all 10 years and still enjoy their bi-weekly shifts.

In 2012 DFR won the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service and the organisation has won several grants to continue to keep premises fresh and suitable.

Pictured is the awarding of DFR's coveted Order of the Bacon Butty to Diana Maslin by Carol Beddall, one of DFR's Trustees.

The award celebrates outstanding service to DFR, in this case Di's management of our oil ordering consortium.

DFR is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 1pm and welcomes visitors with a warm and friendly atmosphere.
