Christmas music driving you mad already? Battling the shopping crowds sending you into a festive frenzy? And is the thought of a Brussels sprout just too much to take? Then the Worcester Repertory Company’s latest offering Bah Humbug! might be just the ticket for you, offering as it does a a modern twist to the Scrooge story.

Written and directed by Worcester Rep Artistic Director Chris Jaeger, Bah Humbug! tells the story of Keith, a wealthy businessman who finds himself all alone on Christmas Eve… just the way he likes it. He couldn’t care less about Christmas. He hates it, in fact. Loathes the whole jingle-belling thing. But when he awakes to find a young woman in his flat, with no idea who she is, how she got there, or what she wants, it seems that Christmas may turn out a little differently this year… Who is this woman called ‘Carol’ and how does she know so much about him and his family? With ghosts of his past looming, could this stranger in his present alter the course of his future?

“We always try to offer an alternative to pantomime at Christmas – panto isn’t everyone’s bag after all – but we still like to keep it feeling Christmassy," said Jaeger. "And what tale epitomises the festive season more than Dickens’ classic, A Christmas Carol? It surely has to be one of the best Christmas stories ever told. So I thought it might be nice to give it a modern twist.”

Bah Humbug runs until Saturday, and from Tuesday, December 18 to Saturday, December 22 at the Swan Theatre Vesta Tilley Studio. To book, call call 01905 611427 or visit worcesterlive.co.uk
