A CRICKET mad schoolboy from Staunton-on-Wye had the time of his life when he featured on a CBBC series.

Rhodri Jones, 10, stars in the most recent series of CBBC's The Dengineers. The programme follows hosts Lauren Layfield and Joe Tracini as they transform spaces into creative dens for children based on a theme.

For Rhrodi, who plays cricket for Herefordshire County, that meant the creation of a cricket den so that he play the sport as often as he likes in a unique space that is all his.

Describing the filming process Rhodri said: "I'll never have an experience like it ever again.

"With all the big cameras and little-hidden microphones, it was quite amazing. The programme was only 30 minutes yet there were eight days of filming.

"I am very pleased with the den and use it as much as I can."

Rhodri, who now attends Hereford Cathedral School, explained that taking part in a the show has inspired him to become more interested in engineering thanks to the exploits of Lauren and Joe.

Speaking of his plans for the future, Rhodri said: "I have a few different plans for the future first there's to work hard and keep going. My main hope is to be a professional or I would like to run my own business."

Rhodri's episode, titled Cricket Den, is available to watch on the BBC iPlayer now.
