THE Harrison family, whose patriotic spirit was recognised in a letter of appreciation from King George V, has been remembered in a flower arrangement at Bodenham Church.

The arrangement, part of a display in the church to commemorate the centenary of the Armistice, has been sponsored by Marianne and Catherine Percival.

John Harrison and his wife Elizabeth were Catherine's great-great-grandparents.

In 1927 the Harrisons moved to the Coningsby Hospital almshouses, where John was appointed to the senior position of Corporal.

A report in the Hereford Journal from 1915 states that "The letter now reposes in a handsome oak frame, and will be handed down to future generations of the Harrison family as a valuable heirloom."

Marianne and Catherine Percival would be interested to trace the whereabouts of the framed letter. If you are in possession of the item or know where it is please contact the Hereford Times.
