EVERY year, the village school and community of Pencombe gather together to remember the fallen from all conflicts on the Friday before November 11.
The vicar leads the service and wreaths are placed at the foot of the memorial by the Parish Council and villagers with military connections.
When the four names of the local soldiers killed in the First World War are read aloud, the children place their crosses at the base of the memorial.
This year, the same service took place and the children laid their crosses as a sign of respect.
Poems were recited by them, prayers were read and a two minute silence took place to remember our fallen heroes.
Each child also 'planted' the poppy they had made.
To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Armistice, the school was fortunate to have in Retired Army Major, Jan Brodie Murphy, secretary of the Bromyard branch of the Royal British Legion who shared her family stories from the First World War.
