A HOARD of Roman coins discovered in north Herefordshire legally qualify as treasure, an inquest has heard.
12 silver coins were discovered by a metal detectorist in November 2016 in the Leintwardine area.
The Roman Denarius date back to between 98 to 117 AD and relate to four Republican periods, the inquest heard.
The coins qualify as treasure as they contain more than 10% silver and are more than 300 years old, as set by the requirements of the Treasure Act 1996.
An expert from the British Museum stated that the Herefordshire Museum Service is interested in acquiring the find.
Coroner Mark Bricknell recorded a conclusion that the find qualified as treasure, at the inquest at Hereford Town Hall on November 19.
