A CASH machine was blown up by thieves in Presteigne.
Thieves broke into the cash machine on Station Road just after half past midnight on Tuesday, November 13.
The perpetrators stole the contents of the machine and sped off in what police describe as a dark coloured Audi or similar type car.
Damage was inflicted on the tyres of cars at Presteigne police station at around the same time, although police do not know whether the incidents were connected.
DCI Martin Slevin said: "Police officers and crime scene investigators are at the scene making enquiries to identify suspects. There was a similar attack in Llanfair Caereinion on 31st October and we are exploring the links between these two attacks. We are working with neighbouring forces as part of the investigation and increasing patrols in areas we consider vulnerable to targeting."
He added: “I urge anyone who saw what happened, or has any other information that could help, to please call us on 101 and I would ask members of our communities to be vigilante and report and suspicious activity or vehicles around cash machines to the police.”
