FIFTEEN teams took part in a quiz night at the Black Mountain Lodge in Glasbury-on-Wye to raise money for struggling farmers.
The quiz was organised by the Brecon and Radnor committee of the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (R.A.B.I), farming’s oldest welfare charity.
R.A.B.I has given out more than £240,000 in Wales this year to farming families in financial hardship.
To fund its work, R.A.B.I relies heavily on donations and money raised at events organised by committee members, local businesses, community groups and fundraising staff.
David Morris stepped in at short notice to be quizmaster when £807 was raised.
Elaine Stephens, chair of R.A.B.I’s Brecon and Radnor committee, said: “I’d like to thank everyone who supported us, especially David, who certainly made the evening a lot of fun.”
Linda Jones, R.A.B.I regional manager for Wales, added: “It’s been a difficult year for many farming families. R.A.B.I has already given out almost £20k in Brecon and Radnor this year to assist working people who are struggling to make ends meet.”
The winning quiz team comprised Peter and Ann Rowson, Jeanette Burson and Helen Roome, who each took home a bottle of wine.
Welsh beef rolls were supplied during the interval thanks to support from the Hay Veterinary Group.
