A man has been shot by police in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire.
The shooting happened at 1.44am this morning (November 4) in Birmingham Road.
Armed police attended after police received a report of a man with a handgun in School Lane.
The man, believed to be aged 53, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, where he underwent surgery.
His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
No one else was injured during the incident.
The incident has been referred to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC).
West Mercia Police Assistant Chief Constable Martin Evans said: "It is standard procedure that incidents of this nature are referred to the Independent Office of Police Conduct and we will now work with them as they carry out their enquiries."
