COPPETT Hill will present an illustrated talk by Marsha O'Mahony in Goodrich Village Hall.

The talk, entitled River Voices - Stories from the Wye, is the culmination of a year-long oral history project by writer and author Marsha O'Mahony, who, in the summer of 2017, travelled up and down the length of the Wye recording the stories of people who have lived, worked, and played in, on and beside the beautiful River Wye.

It was well worth the effort for she has gathered a stunning collection of memories, photographs and artefacts, from ferry-women, boatmen, boat-builders, swimmers, rowers, anglers, bailiffs, poachers, and more. There is a book to accompany the talk.

Marsha says "There is a whole wonderful but forgotten story to tell about the long history of the Wye and the people who lived and worked on it". She continues "We have only begun to scratch the surface of it, but we hope that this project will go some way to capturing this amazing tale for future generations to enjoy."

Anyone with information and photos would be welcome to contact Marsha on 07989 733870.

The talk will be held on Friday, November 9 and will commence at 7.30pm for a charge of £3 at Goodrich Village Hall, Goodrich HR9 6HX.
