BRIGHTWELLS reports a steady trade at their 20th annual sale for the Wales and Borders Registered Crossing Bluefaced Leicester Club on October 2.

In the pre sale show the Judges Mr Peter Webster, 2 The Cottages, Lawkland and Mr Adrian James, Penrhiwgoch, Beulah, awarded the Championship to I & W Jones Upper Rheol for their first prize Ram Lamb Underwood L15 sired by J3 New Hutton and out of a B5 Barley Ewe.

Reserve Champion was the first prize Yearling also from I & W Jones, Upper Rheol K24 Underwood sired by H6 Scarrowmanwick out of a B5 Barley Ewe.

This Yearling sold for 650gns to JC Davies & Son, Gelli Gethin, Llamfair Caerinion.

The top price of the day was 2,650gns for the Ram Lamb Llanilltyd L3 from DIL & E Jones, Llanilltyd sired by R1 Snabgreen and out of a Z1 Tymawr ewe selling to T Davies & Co, Llwyncadwgan and J Hughes & L Davies Rogerstone.

Top price Yearling Selling at 2300gns was K1 Tymawr from RG & BM Jones & Son, Tymawr, which was sired by H12 Riddings and out of a E1 S.P. Dalpeddar ewe and was purchased by DA Davies & Son, Delidre, Llanidloes.

At 2100gns was Lawson J1 from K & G Jones, Cornel, sired by F2 Deri and out of a E1 Ilkley Moor ewe selling to J Thomas Tanhouse and WJ Douglas & Son. Jedburgh.

The 110 yearling rams sold averaging £581.31 down £114.09.

The 10 Ram Lambs sold averaging £648.38 £446.83 up £201.55.
