On Friday, October 26 and Saturday, October 27, one of the finest string quartets in the world, the celebrated Maggini Quartet, will be playing back-to-back concerts in Herefordshire with identical programmes. They will be at Hellens Manor in Much Marcle at 7.30pm on Friday, October 26 and at the Lion Ballroom in Leominster at 7.30pm on Saturday, October 27.

They will play the fourth quartet from Haydn’s groundbreaking Op 20 set, the so-called ‘Sun’ Quartets; Schubert’s great ‘Death and the Maiden’ Quartet which has become one of the cornerstones of the entire chamber music repertoire; and a new work by acclaimed composer Derek Smith, his Sixth Quartet.

This carefully chosen programme will surely captivate with music of sublime beauty, elegance, serenity and passion and with the hint of intrigue which comes from a new work by a respected present-day composer. Tickets at £16 (students £8) can be purchased for either concert from the box office at The Courtyard in Hereford on 01432 340555 or online at www.courtyard.org.uk.Tickets for the Leominster concert can also be purchased from Leominster TIC on 01568 616460.
