STAUNTON-ON-WYE Endowed Primary School proudly fly the Eco-School flag for their 14th year, which all of the children have worked hard towards.

Bio-diversity, litter management, energy and water are some of the nine principles embedded in the heart of the school. Litter picking, recycling, energy monitors and pond dipping are only a few of the weekly jobs that children get involved in.

"Last week in cooking, we pressed our school apples to make juice and made cheesy leek pie the week before, using leek from our garden," explained Ruby.

Eco-Schools is an international award program that guides schools on their sustainable journey and Staunton-on-Wye believe they have held this accolade the longest in Herefordshire.

"Measuring and monitoring is an integral part of the Eco-Schools program, providing us with all the evidence we need to showcase our environmental success." says Eco-Schools coordinator, Mrs Audigier.

Staunton School share good eco practice with other schools so if any other school is interested in knowing what being an Eco School is all about, please get in touch.
