THE main sponsor of our Food and Drink Awards 2018 is The Butter Market in Hereford.

Last Friday the Butter Market held a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and raised more than £250.

The event was part of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning – an initiative started by Macmillan and is their annual flagship fundraising event.

The stall in the Butter Market was manned by Moira and Natasha who said: “All of our permanent traders were brilliant and went to town baking (or shopped) some amazing cakes for the day.

“We were busy from the time we set up our space and were overwhelmed with the generosity of everyone who came along.”

Darren Sockett, the owner of the Butter Market, said: “Natasha and Moira spend hours every day bouncing ideas around for the Butter Market and I was very pleased to see how busy the coffee morning was. We are excited to see the market used as a community space for events like these – bringing the heart of the city back to High Town.”

Steve and Aree, the owners of Thaitastic Thai in the Butter Market, prompted an idea which has led to the market looking at becoming a main supporter of SSAFA in Herefordshire.

They are also thinking about holding a Charity Day in the Butter Market in January to involve all of the wonderful support services in the county – and held at time of year when people look for something to do.
