A HUSBAND and wife from Hereford are holding a fundraising event in aid of mental health next month- a cause that is very close to their heart.

Erica and Brendon Feeley will raise money for mental health charity Mind with a pub quiz at the Bay Horse in Hereford on October 10 which marks World Mental Health Day.

The cause is particularly personal to the couple as Brendon has lived with depression for the past four years.

He explained: "I am lucky to have a fantastic support network and access to services that are helping me on a day-to-day basis.

"However, I have become acutely aware that this is not the case for an alarmingly enormous number of people with mental health issues that have no support network or services to assist them during their darkest times."

At the age of 13, Brendon suffered a spinal injury from a diving accident, which left him using a wheelchair due to tetraplegia, which is paralysis that affects all four limbs.

Although he has adapted to his condition, it has taken its toll on his mental health.

Now he is determined to help others who are living with mental health issues.

The fundraiser will involve a quiz, auction and food and the couple are now welcoming donations and gifts for the raffle.

Brendon added: "Together, we can make a significant difference to the quality of life of those with mental health issues. It's a cause which affects so many people directly and indirectly and is a cause that is obviously close to my heart."
