A SPATE of pub burglaries have taken place across Herefordshire.

Police are investigating reports of five pub burglaries believed to have taken place overnight between Monday, September 17 and Tuesday, September 18.

The Bull Ring Inn in Kingstone was broken into sometime between 11.30pm on Monday and 9.30am on Tuesday. Thieves broke into a fruit machine and a small amount of cash was stolen.

During the early hours of Tuesday morning the burglar alarm was set off at the New Harp Inn in Hoarwithy. Burglars broke in through a window and stole a small amount of cash.

The till drawer and a Christmas Fund box were stolen from the The Mill Restaurant in Poston Mill at Peterchurch overnight between Monday and Tuesday.

The till drawer was later found about three miles down the road towards Kingstone.

Thieves stole cash from the gambling machine in the Three Horseshoes Inn, in Allensmore, also during the early hours of Tuesday.

During the same night would-be thieves tried to break into the the Pandy Inn in Dorstone. Nothing was stolen as the resident's dog is believed to have scared the thieves away.

Police say the investigation is in its early stages and it too soon to say whether the burglaries are linked.
