ROAD workers in the county have been subjected to a spate of aggressive behaviour from drivers.

A road crew member working on road works at Barons Cross on the A44 in Leominster was threatened by a driver when the motorist was not allowed through the works.

The driver attempted to damage the worker's van and smashed the windscreen, before driving off, according to Hereford Highways department.

The incident happened on September 18, just after 4pm.

Later that night at 9.15pm on the A44 in Eardisland, a motorist drove into a night works road closure just missing a site worker.

The driver reversed, damaging a site vehicle, and then drove away.

Hereford Highways tweeted: "We only close roads when convoys or temporary lights do not make road works safe enough for workers AND public. We enable local access when safe. Fortunately no one was killed/injured this time. If you saw either incident/have dashhcam call West Mercia Police on 101."

Anyone who witnessed either of these incidents is urged to contact West Mercia Police and quote reference 445 18/9 for Baron's Court or 731 18/9 for Eardisland.
