A LATE penalty saw Luctonians suffer their first defeat of the season after going down 15-13 at Newport (Salop).
In a tightly fought game from start to finish the visitors led early on through a Sam Boxhall penalty before Newport replied with a try out wide.
Lucs replied before half-time when a line-out deep inside the Newport 22-metre line resulted in several attempts before George Newman found a gap to give them a 10-7 lead.
After the break Newport took a two points lead following a second try on the wing.
Ryan Watkins' side again responded through the boot of Boxhall until a late penalty sent them home with just a losing bonus point and dropped to third.
