THE Rev Phill Brown, recently installed Vicar in the Burghill Benefice of Churches, recently enjoyed a ride on the miniature steam engine, King Offa, driven by Trevor Carter.
A heritage afternoon held at St Mary the Virgin Church, Burghill on September 8, was a huge success with large crowds enjoying the historical displays, train rides, vintage vehicles and refreshments.
The Burghill and Tillington Handbell Ringers with Tintinnabulis Handbell Ringers played tunes all afternoon and lots of people "had a go" at ringing.
Although this was primarily an event to draw the community together, organisers were delighted to raise over £900 towards the Tower Repair Fund.
They were also fortunate in receiving a welcome grant of £2,200 from Allchurches Trust which is another large boost to their funds.
Organisers sincerely thank all those people who helped or supported them in any way both before and during the afternoon.
