BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award winners Greg Russell and Ciaran Algar are set to perform at The Courtyard this September.
Combining Russell’s powerful vocals and driving guitar style with Algar’s All-Ireland winning fiddle playing, the duo have become one of the most sought after acts on the British folk scene.
Since winning the Young Folk Award in 2013, the pair have gone on to receive a Horizon Award for best breakthrough act in 2014, toured extensively in the UK, Denmark, Germany and The Netherlands and recorded and released three studio albums.
Utopia and Wasteland is Russell and Algar’s latest tour and features songs from the identically titled album including The Moving Cloud, a homage to traditional Irish music and poignant tribute to Grenfell Tower victims We Are Leaving.
Described by Maverick Magazine as “folk at its very best” this unique duo are not to be missed.
Greg Russell and Ciaran Algar will be in The Courtyard’s Studio Theatre on Saturday, September 15 at 7.45pm. To book, call the box office on 01432 340555 or visit courtyard.org.uk.
