ALICE in Wonderland was this year's theme for Gladestry Fair.

The Mad Hatter officially opened proceedings, assisted by the Queen of Hearts and the White Queen, who distributed jam tarts to everyone.

The sun shone brightly and copious amounts of tea and cake were enjoyed, along with cooler, stronger stuff for the adults at the bar.

Fancy dress was the order of the day with many outrageous outfits and even more outrageous hats.

The Walrus and the Carpenter, accompanied by sweet little oysters performed a marvellous children's play, which was a resounding hit with the audience.

A number of the very professional Radnor Valley Band provided easy listening background music for the enjoyment of the crowd.

The Dog Show attracted 20 contestants of all shapes and sizes, proudly parading around the arena with their owners. All the dogs behaved impeccably and each one was a winner, receiving a rosette and certificate. There were many categories so no dog was left out.

The performing tricks class included a dog who 'played dead' whilst another did a 'high five' with its owner. Other categories included dogs with the longest legs, the waggiest tails, longest coats etc.

A Mad Hatter's tea party was set out in the flower decked village hall, although some people opted to enjoy the beautiful weather and eat al fresco amongst some wonderful papier-mâché characters.

A bouncy castle, a children's craft area, a photo booth and various games in the meadow, all free of charge, kept everyone suitably occupied.

Special thanks to Team Gladestry (the villagers), Gladestry Church in Wales Primary School for their lovely art work and The Gladestry Active Community Fund for making the day possible.
