FROM fetlocks to ferrets, Kington Show promises lively entertainment for all on Saturday September 8.

Dating back to 1881, this one-day event manages to combine the traditional feel of an agricultural show with an action-packed programme to cater for all ages.

As usual the spectacular site, with its panoramic views across the county, will be thronged with horses, cattle and sheep for an abundance of livestock classes while nearly 200 stands will be pitching for trade.

The variety of attractions will be evident from a distinct change of tempo in the main ring when a daredevil motorcycle stunt team, Broke FMX, makes way for the show’s much lauded Grand Parade of rosette-winners.

An Interhunt challenge promises fast and furious horsemanship, and a hands-on experience will provide a chance for younger visitors to meet the hunts’ hounds.

The pace will hot up once more with a series of trotting races, while visitors can turn back the clock to admire a vintage vehicle display.

Elsewhere on the showground there will be displays from the Wye Valley Axemen and Van Buren's Illusionist Show.

Meanwhile, the Ferret World Roadshow is likely to prove compelling, as well as Animal Mania and Owl World, and the strains of the Bill Bailey Band.

A food and craft marquee will showcase much of what is produced in the county and the horticultural classes will be certain to prove a big hit, as will the popular Dog Show.

Young Farmers’ competitions will undoubtedly attract a wide audience and there will also be sheep shearing events and a dog scurry.

Aside from the general spectacle, there will be a broad range of catering stands and a licensed public bar.

*The show runs from 9am – 6pm. Admission: adults, £12.50, 10 – 17-year-olds £5, under 10s free. Dogs on leads welcome. Parking is free.
