A POPULAR burger and steak restaurant business in Hereford is looking for public investment to take their vision to the next level.

Brothers Edwin and Dorian Kirk run The Burger Shop and The Bookshop in Aubrey Street.

As previously reported, independent businesses in that area of the city have been faced with a significant rent rise from their landlord.

Some businesses, such as The Den, have already decided to move location but the brothers are considering all options for the future of their business in Hereford.

On Sunday they launched a crowdfunding project to raise £200,000 to reimagine their Hereford restaurants, whether that will be where they are based now or in another location in the city.

A total of £165,950 has already been invested in A Rule of Tum - Black Card Bonds.

Dorian, co-founder and director of A Rule of Tum Ltd (which is the overall company name for the restaurants), said: “When we started A Rule of Tum in 2013, we had no idea that what we had set out to do would resonate with so many people.

"A Rule of Tum has never been about creating a faceless chain. It’s about great food, individuality, building a community and inspiring change.”

During the past five years they have invested back into their business and the community through opening restaurants and hosting a successful food festival called Indie Food.

The Burger Shop does what it says on the tin and The Bookshop serves a concise steak menu Thursday to Saturday and on Sundays serves roasts.

Last year the restaurant won Best Sunday Lunch in the Observer Food Monthly Awards. As well as the two restaurants in Hereford they also run The Burger Shop in Worcester.

A Rule of Tum Black Card Bonds are available to buy until October 2. Investments in Black Card Bonds start at £500 and offer a rate of return of up to 7 per cent fixed rate over four years. Investors can also receive a personal ‘Black Card’ which comes with a host of benefits.
