THREE fire engines were called to Hereford County Hospital last night.
A small fire was reported at the hospital at 9pm.
Three engines attended with 14 crew and one fire officer.
A fire service spokeswoman said: "The fire was extinguished by hospital staff and fire crew used positive pressure to ventilate the building.
"A fire investigation was carried out and the fire incident was closed at 10.01pm. No casualties were involved and the incident is now with the police."
Police were called by Hereford County Hospital to assist the fire service at 9.04pm last night. Enquiries are still ongoing at this time.
Patients were evacuated from the A&E department.
Wye Valley NHS Trust spokesman John Burnett said: "The fire was confined to a single room and was extinguished by staff within minutes.
"It caused a limited amount of damage, no one was hurt and no patients were at risk."
The trust is working with West Mercia Police to establish the circumstances around the fire.
