NEW City of Hereford Rotary Club president Rob Soutar’s year in office has begun with a flurry of activity.

The club has already been able to welcome two new members with Tanya Everard and Ruth Punshon joining up.

And members have had a chance to hear from two local organisations with BT Madley’s general manager Nick Wood and Kenton Vigus, waste disposal team leader from Herefordshire Council giving evening talks on how their organisations work.

There’s also been a visit from the new district governor Joan Goldsmith, who attended a lunch meeting.

Members have had the opportunity to try their hand at boules at the Seven Stars in Clehonger, while the annual treasure hunt concluded with a barbecue at the Whitestone home of Colin and Shirley Hunt.

Colin’s was also one of the contributions to the club honoured when former president Ray Bayliss handed over to his successor Rob Soutar.

Ray named former assistant district governor Colin as his Rotarian of the Year for all of his work during the previous 12 months, not just for the Hereford club but for Rotary as a whole.

Ray also had the privilege of naming another former president Derek Foxton as a Paul Harris Fellow for his enduring contribution to Rotary.
