Is it a bird? Is it a bat?
No... it's a moth.
Jamie Higgins, of the Hereford Times Camera Club took this picture of this striking-looking creature in Hereford.
It is a poplar hawk-moth, and according to Butterfly Conservation it can be seen flying between May and early August.
The female of the species comes to light before midnight, the male after midnight, in greater numbers.
