THE FIRE service has urged the public to take extra care when using aerosols during the current heatwave.

A fire crew from Hereford were called to reports of a fire on Hunderton Road on Monday involving an incinerator and aerosol cans.

The crew extinguished the fire with water backpacks.

A fire service spokeswoman said: “We would urge the public to take extra care as aerosols are extremely flammable and can explode when subjected to higher temperatures, including being left too close to candles. If you use aerosols, keep them away from sources of ignition and never leave them in direct sunlight.

"This is especially pertinent during the heatwave that we are currently experiencing.”
