A CARER employed by Hereford home care company Katherine Harriet has been nominated by her partner, Darren Devay, for the Hereford Times Health and Social Care Awards.

Amanda Barnes, 39, from Credenhill, Hereford, has been nominated for the Home Carer Award, for her relentless dedication to others needing support.

Amanda, who suffers from the health condition Crohn's Disease, continuously puts her own concerns aside, never going off sick and always going above and beyond for her clients.

In addition to her full-time job as a carer working at Katherine Harriet Home Care, Amanda supports her 20 year old daughter who is living with dyspraxia.

When asked how she manages it all, Amanda said: “Easily. I just want to help others, they need my help, so I make it all work. I love being a carer.”

Katherine Harriet director, Kathy De Mattia, said: “ Amanda is a great contender for the Home Carer Award. She works incredibly hard, and gives so much time and thought to her clients’ needs, always going the extra mile to put smiles on their faces and helping them to feel safe. She is also an outstanding team player and always willing to help her colleagues. We feel proud to have Amanda on our team and wish her the very best of luck with the award.”
