DESPITE being a school year younger than his rivals Dylan Menhennet claimed top spot in the Junior Boys Hammer event at the Hereford and Worcester Schools Athletics Championships
Menhennet threw a personal best of 34 metres and seven centimetres to claim the gold medal along with a place at the Mason Trophy competition, an Inter-County School event to be held in Birmingham.
Several other John Kyrle High School athletes also performed strongly including Emily Jarvis, a year 10 pupil, who improved on her own school record in the Intermediate Girls Shot Putt event, with a throw of nine metres and 21 centimetres to win a bronze medal.
On the track, year eight pupils Jake Ashley and Faith Robbins set new personal bests in the 800m and 1500m of two minutes 24 seconds and 5:37 respectively.
In addition, Year 10 student, Ellie Lown reached the final of the 300m setting a new personal best time of 48.5 seconds.
George Harrhy had a very busy day, making the finals of the Junior Boys 100m (12.4 seconds), 300m (40.5s) and the High Jump (1 metre and 45 centimetres).
